E-Mail From God For Grads

I’M TAKING THIS TRIP WITH YOU!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the
Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Dear Child,

Graduation is a big step—I realize that. In a way it’s like walking through a door into a different life. The things that are expected of you will be different. You’ll be moving away. Your new school or job will have new rules and situations that don’t stop me, though. I’m planning to make this trip with you.

Remember, I made you a promise, and I intend to keep it. I promised to be with you wherever you go. You don’t have to strap Me in a seat belt in the car. You don’t have to enroll Me in your college.

I’ll be with you—in your heart, your mind, your spirit, your conscience. I’ll be whispering words of encouragement and giving your conscience guidance when you get confused. Be strong! Don’t be afraid! You’ve got a friend.

Your Father,

God

USE YOUR GIFTS CREATIVELY

Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have
been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t compare yourself
with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative
best you can with your own life.

My Child,

I guess you’ve noticed that I didn’t crank out a world of clones. Even if you’ve looked in every city and town on the planet, you would never find another person exactly like you. You are an original, inside and out.

Part of your assignment as My child is to get to know yourself—what you’re good at and what you like. This isn’t a competition between you and anyone else. You’re not graded on the curve. Be confident—you have a right to be. You’re awesome!

Let Me help you discover how to use the gifts I’ve given you, performing work that you find exciting. I want to see your life count for something great!

Your Creator,

God

TO LOVE IS TO OBEY

The world must learn that I love the Father and
I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

John 14:31

Obeying Me seems like a great big pain.

Dear Child,

I have wonderful plans for your life.

My Son, Jesus, perfectly obeyed Me. I told Him to pray for
twelve hours, He did. If I told Him not to eat or drink for forty days, He didn’t.

Why did He obey Me? Because He loved Me. Until you love Me,
obeying Me seems like a great big pain. When you love Me, you’ll
want to do what I command.

How do you learn to love Me? Start by receiving My love for you.
Once you realize how much I love you, that I sacrifice My Son just to
be with you, that you’ll want to love Me back. Once you love Me, obeying
Me won’t be a painful duty, it will be a joy.

Your Loving Father,

God

EMAIL FROM GOD FOR GRADS

PRESCRIPTION FOR A GOOD LIFE

Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day filled up with good, Here’s what you do: Say nothing evil or hurtful. Speak good words and cultivate good; run after peace for all you’re worth.

[Icons: off, cross, heart, checkmark] 1 Peter 3:10-11 [THE MESSAGE] [checkmark, phone, clock]

Dear Child,

Want a prescription for a good life? I’ve got one, but don’t expect anything supernatural. It’s plain old common sense. Here it is: Don’t run at the mouth with harmful gossip and mindless chatter. You can hurt other people with your words.

When you see your friends headed for trouble, turn around and run in the other direction. It’s not worth being part of the crowd if the crowd is headed to jump off a cliff. It’s not worth it to figure out that reckless, dangerous choices lead to a reckless, dangerous life.

Run away from what’s bad for you, and run after what’s good. You’ll be rewarding yourself with peace, and run after what’s good. You’ll be rewarding yourself with peace and happiness, and your regrets will be few. Trust Me!

The Author of Common Sense,

God
